A place built on the belief that families can learn to understand each other better
← Back to HomeHow homevaledas came to be
homevaledas started as a small reading circle in Chiang Mai's Wat Ket neighbourhood, where a group of people navigating family changes found it helpful to think aloud together. Over time, that informal circle grew into something more intentional — a place with structure, facilitators, and tools that participants could take away and actually use.
The founding idea was simple: families often lack a neutral, unhurried space to work on how they communicate. Not a consulting room, not a support group with emotional stakes, but somewhere educational — a workshop, a template, a conversation. homevaledas was shaped around that gap.
Today the organisation runs three programmes for English-speaking families and individuals across northern Thailand. Everything we do is educational in nature, grounded in good communication frameworks, and delivered by experienced facilitators who know how to keep a room feeling open and respectful.
What guides our work
Calm over urgency
We build our sessions around pace and reflection, not pressure. People learn best when they feel comfortable.
Education, not advice
Our facilitators teach skills and frameworks. Every participant takes what applies to them and leaves the rest.
An open door
Anyone can come. There is no requirement to share anything you're not ready to share, and no expectation beyond curiosity.
Respect for privacy
What happens in our sessions stays there. We operate under clear ground rules that everyone in the room agrees to from the start.

Confidentiality ground rules
All participants acknowledge shared ground rules before sessions begin. Personal information shared in workshops is not recorded or repeated.
Reviewed workshop materials
Workbooks, templates, and readings are reviewed for clarity and updated regularly to reflect current good practice in adult education.
PDPA-compliant data handling
We collect only the information needed to run our programmes, stored securely and handled in line with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act.
Moderated community spaces
Our peer membership circles are actively moderated to maintain a respectful, supportive atmosphere where everyone can engage comfortably.
Participant feedback loops
We collect structured feedback after each workshop and use it directly to shape the next iteration of our programmes.
Family communication skills in Chiang Mai
homevaledas works with families and individuals who want practical tools for navigating the shared parts of home life. Our workshops draw on well-established frameworks for respectful dialogue, active listening, and collaborative problem-framing — all presented in plain, accessible language without jargon or professional formality.
The Shared Records Setup programme addresses a different but equally common challenge: the paperwork, schedules, and contacts that families need to keep in order, especially during periods of change. We provide editable templates and a guided walkthrough that leaves each participant with a working system they can maintain on their own.
Our Community Membership brings together people learning similar skills over a full year, with monthly workshops, reading resources, and access to recordings. The membership is moderated thoughtfully to keep the space warm and generative. homevaledas is based at 90 Charoenmuang Road in Chiang Mai's Wat Ket neighbourhood — a short walk from the river and easy to reach from most parts of the city.
